Hatfield provides technical solutions and consulting services for sustainable forest management from temperate and boreal forests in North America to moist and dry tropical forests and mangroves in Southeast Asia and Southern Africa.
Our multi-disciplinary expertise includes forest ecology and biodiversity, forest assessment using remote sensing (including drones, LiDAR, and satellite platforms), wildfire assessment, hydrology and watershed management, carbon stock assessment, and socio-cultural assessment and valuation. We work with governments, international organizations, Indigenous groups, NGOs, and the private sector to advance sustainable forest management practices in sectors such as palm oil production, forest plantation, non-timber products, bioenergy, hydropower, mining, and oil and gas. This includes addressing national and international sustainable forest management requirements and opportunities, such as high conservation value (HCV) assessments, and reduced emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD+).
