Hatfield participates in the Mekong Forum on Water, Food and Energy

Dec 05, 2011

Representatives from Hatfield has been asked to be speakers for the upcoming Mekong Forum on Water, Food and Energy in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from December 7– 9th.  The Forum is sponsored by the Challenge Program on Water and Food together with the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology (MOWRAM) and the Mekong Program on Water, Food and Resilience (M-POWER).  The forum is funded by the Australian Government, through AusAID.

The objective of the Mekong Forum is to have a shared understanding of the water, food, energy nexus and its meaning within the Mekong context, and to better understand how water development can be planned, constructed, managed, and coordinated to improve sustainability.

Mr. Sokhem Pech, Senior International Governance Specialist at Hatfield Consultants, will be the convener of the Forum, and will also lead the discussion on the value of transparency in sustainable decision-making, and lessons learnt from the conducting of the hydropower sustainability assessment in the Lower Mekong countries.

Hatfield draws on over twenty years of experience working in in the Mekong region, and is now supported by a recently opened office in Vientiane, Lao PDR.
