Hatfield Consultants continues to grow, and we’re pleased to introduce the following staff:
North Vancouver, BC:
Janice Kwo – MSc Ecosystem Restoration – Environmental Specialist
Janice possesses her Erosion and Sediment Control Lead Certification and has experience as environmental support for infrastructure and development projects that include assessing environmental resources, preparing supporting documents required for project approval, obtaining required permitting, and providing environmental monitoring on-site. She has worked extensively with civil construction teams during monitoring of instream works projects, erosion and sediment control inspections, and vegetation clearing activities to ensure all work is completed using best management practices in compliance with federal, provincial, and municipal environmental legislation. Janice has implemented field programs to asses and monitor fish communities, fish habitat, wetland baseline environmental data, and upstream and downstream of run-of-the-river hydro projects across British Columbia. Janice joins our Infrastructure team in North Vancouver supporting fisheries-related projects.
Raissa Philibert – PhD Oceanography – Environmental Information Systems Specialist
Raissa is a Marine Data Scientist with extensive experience in research and marine science analytics, remote sensing, ‘R’ statistical analysis and Python scripting. Raissa has the innate ability to present findings from large raw data sets into a presentable form understandable not just to scientists but to the general public. Raissa is filling a newly created position at Hatfield that will bridge the Environmental Information Systems team with the Environmental Monitoring and Assessment groups. Her primary responsibilities will include managing and advancing information systems, data management and data-driven science initiatives and projects. We are excited to have Raissa join our North Vancouver office in this new role.
Stewart Wright – MSc Oceanography – Senior Manager, Marine Resources
Stewart has joined the Infrastructure Environmental Management group as Senior Manager, Marine Resources in our North Vancouver office. Stewart is a marine scientist and environmental and regulatory specialist with more than 15 years of experience. His experience covers planning, construction and operational phases of projects and a strong network of clients, regulators and subject matter experts in BC and internationally. His primary expertise is with permitting, approvals and Environmental Assessments as well as strategic planning and audit/review services, with a focus on coastal and offshore development. He has managed and developed environmental teams in Canada and the UK and delivered projects in BC, the Canadian Arctic, Latin America, the UK, the Former Soviet Union, Africa, Australia and the Middle East.
Justin Hick – MSc Environmental Studies – Senior Environmental Specialist
Justin is professional biologist and qualified wetland science practitioner (QWSP) with extensive experience identifying regulatory and environmental requirements for his clients. His main focus has been on large infrastructure projects with municipalities like the City of Calgary and the Alberta Ministry of Transportation, and has assessed over 100 wetlands under the Alberta Wetland Policy. As a Project Manager, Justin has managed environmental assessments, wetland and habitat and water act assessments and has put together erosion and sediment control plans for one of the largest biophysical assessments in Calgary. He has also been involved with environmental risk assessments and evaluations, numerous Environmental Protection Plans and has a strong engineering background. Justin joins our Infrastructure team in our Calgary office.
