Hatfield Consultants Africa wins Award at DigitalGlobe Conference

Apr 13, 2018

Digital Globe ENGAGE Award

On April 10th, 2018, Hatfield Consultants Africa (Botswana), in partnership with Terrabotics (UK), were awarded one of five ENGAGE Awards by, Dan Jablonsky, President, DigitalGlobe, and Amy Minnick, Senior Vice President & General Manager – Commercial, DigitalGlobe at the DigitalGlobe ENGAGE 2018 Europe, Middle East and Africa Region (EMEAR) Conference in London.

The ENGAGE awards are designed to acknowledge DigitalGlobe Channel partners who have demonstrated exceptional value delivered to customers. Entries were submitted by partners before the event, and five awards recognising powerful use cases were selected from the numerous entries, with each winner the recipient of $10,000 of DigitalGlobe archive imagery.

The Hatfield and Terrabotics award recognised their efforts as a channel partner; specifically, with the sale of the value-added services using DigitalGlobe high resolution 30-centimeter WorldView-3 imagery to develop time-series topographic and elevation data products for Debswana’s Jwaneng Diamond Mine – the largest diamond mine by value in the world.

A satellite-based approach to volumetric analysis at Jwaneng Mine provides consistent and accurate data for monthly reconciliation analysis. Because the data is collected remotely, safety related issues are eliminated from the volumetric analysis workflow further enhancing the business value of delivering time-critical operational information to support informed decision making. In addition, the relatively lower cost of imagery means Jwaneng can receive multiple collections in a year for the same price of a single LiDAR survey.  Following successful piloting at Jwaneng Diamond Mine, Debswana is considering implementing this approach for other mines across the country.
