Hatfield wins environmental work in Alberta mining projects

Sep 07, 2006

Hatfield’s client base in Alberta is expanding with two new projects in the mining sector. Hatfield was recently awarded a contract with Graymont Western Canada Inc. to conduct water quality, fish and fish habitat baseline studies and associated impact assessments for an 800 ha sand and gravel and limestone quarry located just north of Fort McMurray. Fieldwork in support of the sand and gravel application is complete; the fieldwork and impact assessments for the limestone quarry are expected to continue to late 2007.

Hatfield is also part of a team conducting water quality baseline studies and impact assessments in support of an application by Coal Valley Mine Ltd. for the Mercoal West, Yellowhead Tower and Robb Trend coal mines south of Hinton and Edson in Alberta. Fieldwork has already commenced, with project completion expected in early 2008.
