Description
The Forest & Climate Change Specialist will have a minimum of five years’ experience in climate change and REDD+ activities within the forestry sector and hold a Master’s degree in forestry, natural resources management, environmental policy or another related area. The specialist must have at least three years’ experience in community forestry, sustainable forest management, and possess a working proficiency with environmental and social safeguards standards. The specialist must also have a sound working knowledge of sub-national forest management processes in Indonesia, know local and national institutions involved in climate change, and be proficient with donor agencies (e.g., World Bank, ADB, KfW, or others). He/she will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, be fluent in written and spoken English and be able to demonstrate the ability to write professional reports in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
Responsibilities:
The specialist will be based in Bogor/Jakarta with travel to project sites. The specialist’s tasks will include:
- Support the Team Leader during project implementation, including coordination with project team, communication and coordination with Implementing Agencies and Forest Management Units (FMU), and other project management roles needed to deliver the Project;
- Oversee and support the GHG Data Series measurement as part of the REDD+;
- Oversee community livelihood support activities such as village infrastructure development, livelihood improvement, economic development programs, and capacity development programs;
- Plan and conduct workshops and training on REDD+;
- Maintain and build relationship with local government and civil society organizations (CSOs) and also working with masyarakat hukum adat communities;
- Provide necessary inputs to national and provincial project teams in planning, preparation, and completion of sub-projects in accordance with FMU plans;
- Support the data collection, analysis, and reporting for monitoring and evaluation;
- Support the Team Leader in timely submission of quarterly progress and project completion reports which include safeguards monitoring reporting and report of implementation of gender action plans; and
- Develop, review, and complete reports on semi-annual monitoring for environmental and social safeguards, project monitoring and evaluation, and REDD+ performance monitoring.
Additional tasks may be added depending on project and company needs.
