The Pitt River Bridge and Mary Hill Interchange Design-Build Project includes two major components: a new bridge to replace the existing Pitt River bridges, and an interchange to replace the intersection of Lougheed Highway (Highway 7) and the Mary Hill Bypass. The project is a stand-alone component of the North Fraser Perimeter Road Project, which is part of the larger Gateway Program. Peter Kiewit Sons Co. is the Design-Build Contractor.
Hatfield is the Environmental Manager of the project, and prepared its Environmental Management Plan. Hatfield's objectives include:
- Protect valued ecological components and socio-economic features within the project area.
- Ensure compliance with the conditions of environmental approvals from regulatory authorities.
- Reduce potential environmental liabilities.
Hatfield provides environmental monitoring for the project and coordinates a team of environmental specialists. As the Environmental Manager, Hatfield also communicates with agencies and stakeholders to ensure that all ecological concerns are being addressed.
