Hatfield to Monitor Environmental Compliance during Construction of Fort Hills Athabasca River Water Intake
Aug 28, 2013
Hatfield has been awarded a contract to monitor environmental compliance with regulatory approvals associated with instream construction of the Fort Hills River Water Intake Structure. The Fort Hills asset is located about 90 km north of Fort McMurray, Alberta and is targeted to produce 3.4 billion barrels of bitumen.
Hatfield will provide all environmental monitoring services, coordination with the construction team, and report preparation. The monitoring will occur on a continual basis over a nine-month period throughout instream work. The work consists of setting up a monitoring schedule; developing sedimentation thresholds; conducting sediment load monitoring; and conducting a fish salvage.
