Hatfield Hosts DigitalGlobe Discovery Day Botswana

Hatfield's Sibonile Sibanda and Simon Hughes hosted the DigitalGlobe Discovery Day in Gabarone, Botswana on July 5th, 2017.

On Wednesday, July 5th, 2017, Hatfield Consultants Africa hosted Discovery Day Botswana, in conjunction with DigitalGlobe, and support from the US Embassy in Gaborone. This high-level, invitation-only event brought together 100 senior officials and decision-makers from across government, parastatals, international organisations, NGOs and the private sector, and members of the media, to learn about the latest developments in high-resolution satellite imagery and elevation products and services, including guest speeches from Debswana and Department of Surveys and Mapping. Following welcome remarks from the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr Thuso Ramodimoosi, and opening remarks from Ambassador for the United States to the Republic of Botswana, Earl Miller, the participants learned about the latest imaging technology, cloud-based delivery BaseMap services and online ‘Big Data’ GBDX platform.

Hatfield is the key Channel Partner for Digital Globe in Botswana, also covering Namibia and Zimbabwe, providing traditional medium and high-resolution satellite imagery products and services, online big data geospatial intelligence applications development for all sectors, including tourism, environment and sustainable development, infrastructure development and management, disaster risk management, advertising, retail, insurance, defence and security.
